Dr. Khadijia White-Thomas, founder of HERJourney: Empowered Women, Empowered Lives, Inc. (HERJourney), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is bringing education, practical tools and community support to women working to change their lives.

Scottsdale Recovery Center (SRC) has partnered with HERJourney to offer its classes to women in treatment. The classes build self-awareness, resilience and practical life skills, and are delivered directly to clients at SRC.

“I believe in four principles: dignity first, education as empowerment, access without barriers, and community over isolation,” which is why Dr. Khadijia founded HERJourney and what she hopes women gain. HERJourney exists to give women the education, tools and community they need to rebuild, regardless of their circumstances.

Through the partnership, SRC CEO, Lee Yaiva and Dr. Khadijia aim to help women learn and grow together in a safe, supportive environment. Both organizations envision a future where every woman, regardless of her past or present, has access to the education and support she needs to define her next chapter.

Lee Yaiva said,”HERJourney has provided a platform that is distinct and draws out the confidence, independence and innate quality of women; intentionally increasing the volume and the voice of women within our care. Together, we are enacting lasting and meaningful change.”

HERJourney classes are psychoeducational, person-centered and grounded in best practices and theory. They are designed to turn knowledge into practical tools women can use in everyday life, whether in treatment or rebuilding in the community.
