Training the Mind Series®

We talked about recognizing when someone may be struggling, finding the courage to ask the difficult question, listening without judgment, and knowing where to turn when someone needs additional support.

Perhaps the most important message was simple: mental health should be talked about with the same openness as physical health, training, recovery, and injury prevention, and then turned into action.

These conversations matter because somewhere in the audience, or somewhere beyond it, is a person who may need to hear that asking for help is okay.

Fortunately, Mental Health America of Arizona was able to speak to several individuals who have suffered from suicidal ideation or are experiencing a family member with mental illness. So the conversation then became intervention.

We are grateful for everyone who helped create a safe space.

A special shout out to the working board of Mental Heath America of Arizona:

Jessica L. Westmiller, MSW
Chung Trinh
Estefana Johnson, LCSW

As well as their families who dedicated their Sunday to serving others.

The work continues.
