On October 17th, Courageous Survivors hosted their third annual Evening of Hope in Scottsdale. Janet Bentley founded Courageous Survivors in 2020 and has a mission to support adult survivors of sexual trauma on their path to peace, with the vision of empowering every adult survivor of sexual trauma. Every 68 Seconds, an American is Sexually Assaulted. While we’re making progress, even today, only 25 out of every 1,000 rapists will end up in prison. While sexual violence knows no gender, women often experience this suffering at an astounding rate in the United States, approximately 1 in 3, according to the CDC.
Brad Simpson and Kellie Simpson traveled from Australia with Brad performing two songs he wrote while at The Meadows Behavioral Center in 2014. Ron Blake shared his own inspirational story of recovery from a brutal rape several years ago and his goal of getting on the Late Show. Many courageous survivors of sexual trauma attended, and many who are passionate about supporting survivors were there.
